In this really short post i am going to express which IDE i feel is best to use for a Java Developer. Purely based entirely on my own personal feelings.

In general, there are three IDE that Java Developers commonly use:

  1. Intellij IDEA
  2. Eclipse
  3. NetBeans

So which one is best?

To be honest, the simple answer(s) is:

  1. It depends
  2. Use whichever you feel comfortable with

And the detailed answer: (well ill let you decide)

I am going to look at each one of those above in reverse order.

NetBeans

Some say it is a bit old-fashioned. Official IDE from Oracle to do Java Development. My view is that it is okay. Not great but not that bad as some people make it out as. To be honest, it does the job.

I compare it to a stock old school mobile phone. You want it to make calls and it can do just that. No fancy gimmicks.

NetBeans is entirely free.

Eclipse
